Chesterfield Hockey Club - Stix Skills Awards:-

STIX SKILLS - A first class resource for young hockey players

Who are STIX SKILLS for?

The STIX SKILLS resource pack is developed specifically for young players - in schools, for those in Years 7, 8 and 9 and in clubs - for those aged between 11 and 14 years. It is fun, skilfull and full of challenge.

We in Chesterfield Hockey Club are preparing our youngsters for the Skills Tests for all age groups up to 14.

What does it involve?

The young players are invited to attempt six skill challenges - all of them against the clock. They are awarded points based on their speed and skill performance. When the results for each of the 6 skill tests are totted up, the young player achieves one of four possible Awards. The Awards are Gold, Silver, Bronze or STIX Cub. Gold is the highest level Award.

What are the skill tests?

-Shooting skills

-Passing skills

-Tackling skills

-Flick shots on goal

-Zig-zag runs

-The wide-drag and lifting skills

We intend to run the six tests throughout the season at intervals of two or three weeks. We'll run all the tests again towards the end of the season for any youngster who's missed one or more tests. A full draft programme will be published below.

At the end of the season, there will be a presentation session with certificates and maybe a prize or two for the best in each age group.
