Junior Hockey is our coaching scheme for youngsters - of both sexes
- age range 6 to 16.
The Junior Hockey Group meets most Wednesday evenings during the
Winter Season :
Our AUTUMN TERM starts in early September and ends in mid-December
(No session on half term).
Timings - from 6:00 – 7.00 pm open to players aged 6 - 16
and 'Development Squad' for players age 9 upwards continues 7:00 to
8:00 pm
Our WINTER TERM starts in early January and ends in early
April (No session on half term Wednesday). There is additional
Sunday training - 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. for the team squads. Friendly
matches take place on a regular basis between September and March
and are played at home(St. Mary’s) or grounds in Derbyshire /
Nottinghamshire. Matches start around 10.30 am and last an hour.
While there is a competitive element to these games winning is not
the "be and end all". We aim to give anyone interested a chance to
play – please let your coaches know of your interest.
In addition we are running "occasional" teams at U-10, U-12, and
U-14 levels to participate in both friendly matches and tournaments.
If you choose to take part in our Junior Hockey Scheme, there are some things you and your parents need to be aware of and give permission to and some information we need to collect about you. Please see the links to various documents on our Junior Activities page. There's also the 2019 introductory letter for parents here.
Our club insurance covers the club for its accident liability and
children are advised to have their own sports injury/personal
accident insurance.
Please note that cancellations due to bad weather may occur, with no
refunds given. There are also two or three Sundays per year when we
have to host Notts/Derbys fixtures resulting in no training on those
dates.
Due to child protection guidelines - no parents (unless invited) are
allowed on the pitch. Children are invited onto the pitch at 6pm on
Wednesdays. Until then they remain the responsibility of their
parents.
We do need some help from parents, and are in the process of setting
up a Parents Group to help organise things, so if anyone is
interested please talk to John or myself.
Many thanks,
